Matt is a mental health therapist with Haven Counseling Center. He enjoys working with individuals, couples, and families to walk through the mental, emotional, functional, and relational challenges in their lives.

Each of us has our own story, and in order to best serve each client, Matt integrates a variety of approaches into his clinical work including a family systems perspective, cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, solution-oriented therapy, attachment theory, and mindfulness techniques.

Matt is also a certified facilitator for the PREPARE/ENRICH inventory for premarital counseling and marriage enrichment. Using these and other tools, he works with clients to help them to develop and use their own strengths to overcome their challenges. Whether you are experiencing depression, anxiety, or relationship issues, or you are navigating life’s changes, Matt would be honored to help.

Matt is a graduate of the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources with University of Tennessee (Knoxville), where he studied Wildlife and Fisheries Science and had an early career as a guide and outfitter in both Tennessee and Florida.

Matt completed his M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with a graduate certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy, from Richmont Graduate University in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Matt is currently completing his post-graduate hours for independent licensure in Tennessee as a licensed marital and family therapist (LMFT) and as a licensed professional counselor-mental health service provider (LPC-MHSP). Matt is completing his hours under the supervision of S. David Hall, PsyD, LMFT, LPC-MHSP-AS with Haven

Matt is a Knoxville native, and when he is not working, he and his wife and son can often be found hiking, paddle boarding, fishing, or otherwise taking advantage of this beautiful part of the world.
