Moreover, Carina lives her life through her Christian faith and provides biblical integration into the therapeutic process for those desiring faith-informed counseling/treatment. To best meet the needs of each person, Carina integrates a family systems perspective, Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness, child-led play therapy techniques, and strength-based approaches in the therapeutic process. Additionally, she holds Gottman level 1 training for couples counseling, is a certified SYMBIS Assessment Facilitator for pre-marital counseling, and has experience with Spanish-language translation that can be incorporated in the therapeutic process.

Most importantly, Carina believes that it is a great privilege and honor to walk alongside clients and greatly values building a trusting and empathetic environment where each client feels valued and empowered to reach their therapeutic goals. She strives to foster hope and healing with those hurting in the storms of life, for even in the lowest of valleys, flowers can grow.

Attending Liberty University for both her undergraduate and graduate studies, Carina earned a Bachelors of Science in Psychology with a concentration in Counseling Psychology and a Masters of Arts in Marriage and Family Counseling with Honors. Post graduation she gained clinical experience counseling in a church setting and community mental health setting in the state of Virgina. She now serves as a pre-licensed therapist and is working towards her license as a Licensed Professional Counselor – Mental Health Service Provider (LPC/MHSP) in the state of Tennessee under the supervision of Matt Scheuneman, MA, LPC/MHSP(S).

Outside of the office, Carina enjoys spending time with her family and friends, running, crocheting, reading at cozy coffee shops, and going on adventures with her husband, Domingo, and bunny, Layla.
