FOR: Women ages 18 and up who have a history of sexual trauma

OVERVIEW OF GROUP GOALS
• Education on how trauma affects the body
• Development of coping strategies to better regulate emotions and manage distress
• Strengthening of interpersonal skills, including exploration of healthy boundaries
The overarching goal of this group is to equip and support members
in gaining back a sense of empowerment over one’s own body,
thoughts, emotions, and story.
*This 6-week group emphasizes education, practical coping strategies and relationship building, and is
meant to be an adjunct service to individual therapy. Members will be assessed for readiness before
entering the group, which will be closed to any new members after Oct. 18. Potential members of group
are encouraged to also be in individual treatment or have undergone individual therapy in order to
participate in the group.
**Kelsie McGlothin is trained in marriage and family therapy and has special training in trauma-focused
therapy from Richmont Graduate University in Chattanooga, TN. At Haven Family Psychiatry, she treats
both adults and children who have experienced trauma. She is supervised by Michelle Shelley, LMFT, for
